We are very pleased to announce year 12, Rowville Sports Academy student, 18 year old Bigoa (Biggie) Nyuon was picked #54 in the 2019 AFL Draft to play for Richmond Tigers.

Biggie Nyuon, a Sudanese refugee, joined Rowville Secondary College in 2015, when he was in year 8. “I was so lucky to get into the Rowville Sports Academy,” Biggie said. “They helped me find a balance between my school work and my football. They played a massive role in helping me develop into the player and person I wanted to be and I cannot thank Rowville enough. All the teachers and coaches, plus a special mention to Mr. Mark Fisher, RSA AFL Coach, Mr. Darren Bewick, RSA Head Coach and Mr. Craig Jamieson, RSA Director for their ongoing support and guidance.”
Bigoa was also part of the St Kilda Football Club Next Generation Academy, and as part of this program they supported his education ensuring he was able to attend before school tutoring classes every week.
Mr. Craig Jamieson, RSA Director and Coaches, Darren Bewick and Mark Fisher were impressed to hear Kevin Sheehan, AFL National Talent and International Manager make mention when Bigoa was drafted that “Rowville Secondary College has done a good job supporting Biggie who attends the Rowville Sports Academy, Darren Bewick works there and has invested in Biggie’s growth and development and he was positive about the program.”
Biggie starts training with the full squad at Richmond on Monday, and when asked about his future he says “I’d like a debut game early days and then a stable and consistent football career at Richmond Tigers.”

Please note: Tom North (Fremantle) and Jack Maibaum (Sydney) both former RSA students were also rookie drafted on Friday 29 November, 2019. Biggie, Tom and Jack will join other Rowville students Jonathan Patton (Hawthorn), Hayden Crozier (Western Bulldogs),Taylor Garner (North Melbourne), Taylin Duman (Fremantle) and Sam Hayes (Port Adelaide) on AFL lists for 2020.
