Here is our 2021 Enrolment Process for students entering year 7 next year.
Interested families/students must submit an Expression of Interest form by the 29th of May, whilst also processing their Primary School Year 7 application form complying with the DET Transition placement policy.
The applicant will be sent a STEM Challenge package on the 1st of June. Students will have 2 weeks to complete the assigned tasks and upload their video submission. The package will provide support materials to complete the video submission, and outline all details regarding the assessment of students’performance.
The STEM Challenge pack will provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their STEM skills and to create a personal profile to support their application for the MSA program.
Student submissions will be judged by an expert STEM panel.
We may still invite students to a Maths Examination but this is dependant on COVID-19 school restrictions going forward.
Parents will be notified of the outcome of this in line with the DET Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Timeline and Placement Policy: all Primary Schools will notify parents in writing the Secondary School they have been offered on Wednesday 19th August, we as a school are then permitted to email parents on Thursday 20th August an offer of enrolment. If successful in the MSA assessment you will receive an offer of enrolment within MSA, if unsuccessful and we have received your application form from your Primary School we will then offer a place within our General Excellence Program. We are not permitted to provide outcomes of assessments prior to this date due to the DET timeline.
Through the DET placement policy you are applying to the school and not the specific program and as a school we currently do not have any enrolment restrictions at this time and can provide a place within the General Excellence Program. Once an offer of enrolment is received you can then decide to accept or decline this place within our compass enrolment portal. If you decide to decline the place please also refer back to your Primary School to process your application form to the other school preferences you may have listed. You can also then request in writing feedback on your child’s assessment by emailing me at: firstname.lastname@example.org we will then endeavour to respond to these requests as soon as possible. Our Assistant Principal likes to offer feedback personally therefore you can appreciate this may take some time to respond to all requests.
