SCHOOL OVERVIEW

Rowville Secondary College is a dual-campus school close to the Dandenong Ranges. The college delivers learning programs using well-equipped buildings and facilities including a senior study centre, multi-purpose courts, year 7 commons, indoor swimming pool and Performing Arts Centre, plus a Sports Precinct which includes four multi-purpose courts, a full-size FIFA accredited soccer pitch as well as a commercial cafeteria, ice baths and a fully equipped Health and Fitness Centre. Uniform is compulsory and the college has a strong commitment to wellbeing and discipline.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION FOR 2021

The Application and Enrolment Process for our 2021 intake can be found on our Enrolment General Information page.  All four programs at Rowville Secondary College require you to complete the DET Primary Schools transition application form. We request that you submit this application form to your Primary school by the deadline given.

**IMPORTANT: Due to COVID-19 the application process for our specialist program are as follows:

  • Rowville General Excellence – this is no further application process. Please complete the DET Primary School Transition form as mentioned above.

OUR PROGRAMS

Students enrol in one of four learning programs.

Rowville General Excellence (GE), based at the Western Campus is an academic program that provides for diversity of talent and interest. It has the broadest range of both core curriculum and elective subjects for students who love a combination of Arts, Sports, Mathematics, Science, Languages, Literature, Technology and Humanities. In Year 11 and 12 a variety of senior pathways are available and students can select to complete VCE, VCAL, VET or SBAT. Click here for more information.

Rowville Institute of the Arts (RIA), based at the Eastern Campus, offers 21st-century integrated arts and academic education for talented and aspiring students who love dancing, drama, media, music and/or visual art. Students’ arts experiences are enriched in a variety of ways including Artists in Residence, workshops led by industry professionals and regular excursions and incursions.

Rowville Maths and Science Academy (MSA), based at the Western Campus, promotes academic excellence and innovative thinking through an integrated, themed and practical curriculum for students who love maths and/or science. Rowville Sports Academy (RSA), based at the Eastern Campus, is a full-time integrated academic and sporting program for students who love Football (Soccer), Basketball, Golf, Aussie Rules Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Cricket and Netball. RSA utilises highly qualified sporting coaches to develop the talent of young male and female student athletes as an integral part of their secondary education. Click here for more information.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

A full range of sporting activities is on offer to students with opportunities to reach state-level competition. The performing arts area includes a very strong music and band program, dance subjects to VCE level and whole college musicals/productions. Leadership and personal development programs are also key elements of the wider program.

STUDENT WELLBEING PROGRAMS

The pastoral care needs of students are catered for through the current House System with support provided initially by each student’s Learning Mentor. These Learning Mentors meet with the students for fifteen minutes every day throughout their educational career. Learning Mentors have the support of their House Leaders who have access, along with the students, to a fulltime Wellbeing Coordinator at each campus. All students participate in ConnectEd (Pastoral Care) once a fortnight. These sessions focus on the promotion of health and wellbeing.
