Everywhere you went was the sound of music.

After a two year wait, we were off to Music Camp and what a fun filled actioned packed camp we had. From the moment we arrived, it was time for our beginners in Junior Concert Band, our Intermediate Concert band, the Senior Concert Band, Big Band, Guitar ensemble and the Junior and Senior Vocal ensembles to start rehearsing in many different locations. Everywhere you went was the sound of music.

What we loved to see even more was the impromptu jamming that occurred amongst students between rehearsals. From a rhythmic celebration of every table at dinner time clapping different rhythms in time, to harmonised choral singing, to blues jamming; something was always happening. The best quote of the camp came when one student was asked had he had lunch, replying “all I need is the music to feed my soul”.

It wasn’t all just music making fun; our evening activities had people in fits of laughter, our outdoor activities like the flying fox were also a hit, along with many other activities across the three days. Our personal favourites had to be ‘Music Gotcha’ and the ‘Gaga Pit’.

Due to lockdown, we changed the program for the Saturday to include recording the Semester One pieces for all our ensembles to ensure we can share these with parents in the near future. Our thanks to the principal team, staff, students and parents/guardians who attended and supported the music department to make music camp an outstanding success.
