In addition to VET and VCAL, Rowville Secondary College also offers School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships to students wishing to combine school with TAFE and paid employment.
The School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship pathway provides an opportunity for students to complete their VCAL certificate whilst commencing an apprenticeship/traineeship. Students undertaking the SBAT go off site to work in their chosen industry and attend TAFE and school as part of their studies.
SBAT differs from VCAL in that students commit to paid work for a greater period of time. A great benefit of completing SBAT is that the course frequently leads students into a full-time apprenticeship.
Whilst completing their SBAT, students have the opportunity and are encouraged to take up leadership positions and participate in the College’s extra-curricular activities.
