Interview with our School Vice-Captain

Name – Emily Ta
Title – School Vice-Captain Western Campus
Program – Rowville General Excellence

1. As School Vice-Captain, what are you most excited about this year?

I am very excited to represent Rowville in 2020! I am also happy and grateful that I have been chosen as now I have a voice in the college community. I am excited to engage and participate in school activities and help assist in building house culture. I am also looking forward to learning more about what it takes to be a leader and be a fantastic role model!

2. What do you love about Rowville Secondary College?

I love the four strength-based programs that RSC offers! If you are interested in a field, Rowville is awesome in letting students delve and study their passions while having a balance in school. I also adore the facilities such as the grand piano and multiple upright pianos so music students like myself can practice on top quality instruments. I also like the gym that the West campus offers. I really like how we have Learning Mentor groups as all different year levels come together to become one great school! House culture is also fantastic here but there’s always room for improvement! The team and myself at Rowville will try our best to make this great house culture even better!

3. What changes would you like to put in place to make RSC better for all students?

I am all for community! So, if as students we could participate in activities that will assist and helping the wider community, that would be awesome! We could do a volunteering-based program. It would be great to improve house culture! We could do this by creating a house point system and continue to build the merit system! This will make students engage and feel that, yes “this is my house, and I am proud that I am part of it”. I believe it would be so fantastic if the school could have house-based murals in the locker areas!

4. How do you feel about this year’s school theme ‘Respect’ – what do you think you will do day-to-day to action this?

I believe the theme is FANTASTIC! Respect is key in building strong relationships. If one wants respect that must be given in return. The ways that I can show respect is to respect my own boundaries and make sure that I don’t push myself too hard throughout this year 12 journey! I will also encourage others to do the same in their schooling this year!
