Interview with our Vice Captain

Name – Romanie Barnes
Title – Vice Captain Western Campus
Program – SBAT

1. As school captain or vice-captain, what are you most excited about this year?

Getting all students involved in all activities that Rowville has to offer. I’m also excited to work alongside the other captains in an effort to make our last year at Rowville memorable for all our peers.

2. What do you love about Rowville Secondary College?

I love that RSC caters for all learning styles with VCE, VCAL and SBAT all available to students such as myself. I love that the teachers are all approachable and go an extra step to ensure work and requirements are understandable.

3. What changes or implementations would you like to put in place to make RSC better for all students?

Implementing a more flexible and fair uniform policy would benefit students in feeling like there are less limited options. Using the Learning Mentor and ConnectED sessions to our advantage – giving students a clearer and designated time to voice and raise their concerns, would be highly positive.

4. How do you feel about this year’s school theme ‘This is us’ – what do you think you will do day-to-day to action this?

This years theme allows and reminds students that in a school environment we are not all alone and that we are a part of a positive community. I will be aiming to acknowledge a wider range of people and keeping in mind my position as Vice Captain and a student at this school. I can achieve more knowing I have a community of support around me.
