Basketball was one of our foundation sports offered in 2008. The program is run by head coach Dean Kinsman and his experienced coaching team who have all either coached and/or played in national competitions (i.e. WNBL, National Championships, etc.). We are proud of the basketball program we have developed which has assisted multiple RSA students to attain US College scholarships and led RSA teams to state and national titles.
Cricket is new to RSA in 2016 in partnership with the Australian Cricket College. The bulk of the program is delivered at Topline, an indoor cricket centre located in Bayswater. Highly reputable Head Coach Scott McNaughton delivers a quality program based on individual development incorporating batting, bowling, wicket keeping and fielding skills. The Junior squad has a biennial tour to Tasmania in December which includes match play against high level opposition.
Our soccer program was first offered in 2008 and several of our RSA soccer students have gone on to represent Australia and received professional contracts. The program is run by head coach Ian Greener and his very experienced coaching team including ex-Perth Glory Assistant Coach Stuart Munro and Victorian State Coach Bobby McLachlan.
Our golf program was also offered in 2008 based at Sandhurst Golf Club. In 2013 we strategically formed a partnership with Waverley Golf Club which allowed us to move our training base to a premier private golf course located closer to campus. The program is run by head coach Tim Wendel and his coaching team who work with students at both an individual and small group level to give each student the best chance of development.
Netball was first offered at RSA in 2009 and is run by Head Coach Kristy Keppich Birrell and her team of ex-ANZ Championship players. We are extremely delighted to have recent Melbourne Vixens players Wendy Jacobsen, Ashlee Howard and Kara Richards coach our students as the students may have seen their coaches play at the elite level.
Our Australian Rules program was first offered in 2013 and has received great interest in its early years. The program was developed by Mark Oraniuk who has extensive experience in elite talent development, while ex-AFL player and Eastern Ranges coach Darren Bewick runs the program. Although the program is in its infancy, we believe we are offering talented players an elite development pathway to ensure they reach their potential.
Volleyball was also first offered in 2013 and is run by head coach Peter Bundy and his team. Peter has over 30 years of coaching experience including coaching state teams and teams in the AVL and VVL. Our volleyball training is primarily conducted on-campus at the recently opened Rowville Sports Precinct, however off-campus sessions are still conducted at Dandenong Stadium, the home of Volleyball Victoria.
