To build independence, self-confidence, strong friendships and life skills during the school years, it is often necessary to go beyond the classroom. At Rowville Secondary College, we strive to offer a rich variety of camps, excursions and overseas travel to extend learning experiences and develop essential skills to prepare students for the future.
Year 7 Adventure Camp
The Year 7 adventure camp, held at Phillip Island, launches student life at Rowville Secondary College. A great opportunity to discover new friends and get to know teaching staff in a relaxed, fun-filled environment.
Year 9 Urban Experience
The Urban Experience prepares our General Excellence Year 9 students for navigating public transport in our thriving city. Students grow organisational, communication and time management skills as they meet project requirements. The opportunity to visit iconic city destinations such as the Eureka Skydeck, the Old Melbourne Gaol, the Police Museum and the Big Issue offices adds further value to the Urban Experience.
Year 10 Central Australia
The Central Australia camp offers year 10 students the opportunity to explore the Australian outback and forge great friendships, building collaborative and social skills. It is also a great opportunity to unplug from technology and experience life outside of the suburbs. A great favourite, well supported by our community.
Instrumental Music Camp
The Instrumental Music Camp creates an opportunity for students across year levels to share their musical ability, practise the art of playing cohesively within a band or ensemble, learning new pieces including a Masterclass.
Every second year, the College organises an international tour to Japan. This provides invaluable opportunities for students to be immersed in the Japanese culture and to connect with our sister school Motoyama Junior High in Nagoya.
Italian language students in years 8-12, have an amazing opportunity to explore Italy every second year. An invaluable adventure to experience the Italian culture and language in a powerful and authentic way.
There is opportunity to participate in the overseas World Challenge trip, a unique way to both expand a student’s knowledge and enable them to practically action their compassion with the aim of making our world a better place. Our most recent trip was to Nepal with students assisting in the rebuilding of a local school.
