Admittance to RIA is by audition and interview only.

Rowville Secondary College welcomes all students who live in the Rowville school zone as stipulated by the Department of Education and Training Victoria. However, students from all areas (even if they are not zoned to Rowville) are welcome to request consideration for enrolment into any of our educational programs, including the Institute of the Arts. In order to be considered for admittance to RIA, students must undertake an audition to assess their suitability for this program.

Our main audition session is held in June each year for admittance for the following year, or for Semester 2 of the current year. We also hold a secondary round of auditions each September/October. Following this, individual auditions may be requested.

All candidates, regardless of specialism, are assessed against the following criteria

RIA students demonstrate:

  • A highly developed artistic ability in at least one field, either performing or visual arts.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to academic study
  • A positive attitude and commitment to the development of skills in their chosen artistic field
  • A strong desire to pursue their passion for the arts
  • A high level of commitment and motivation in pursuit of personal success.
