Admittance to RIA is by audition and interview only.


We encourage everyone who feels they can fulfill the selection criteria to apply. Please note that not all applicants will be accepted.

All candidates, regardless of specialism, are assessed against the following criteria

RIA students demonstrate:

  • A highly developed artistic ability in at least one field, either performing or visual arts.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to academic study
  • A positive attitude and commitment to the development of skills in their chosen artistic field
  • A strong desire to pursue their passion for the arts
  • A high level of commitment and motivation in pursuit of personal success

Applications are made to RIA in writing and should contain the following:

  • The completed Student Application Form (included in application package)
  • The student’s last report card
  • Details of competitions, awards or productions the students have participated in/received
  • A 150 word report written by the student detailing why he/she would like to be accepted into the program.

Book a School Tour: You must book in to attend these tours as places fill fast. School tours only operate during the school term.

Important Dates

Applications are now open for enrolment to RIA in 2021, or Semester 2, 2020.

Auditions will take place on Wednesday 10th June. To book an audition, please complete an Expression of Interest and/or download the RIA Application Pack. Applications must be received by Friday 29th May, 2020.

CHANGES TO THE RIA APPLICATION AND AUDITION PROCEDURE IN LIGHT OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS:

Please note the following changes to the application procedure when/if government schools are not open due to the COVID-19 situation:

  • Please email a copy of your application form only to the RIA Administrator, but send all other documents required as listed in the Application Pack via post (details in Application Pack).
  • At this stage, we are planning to go ahead with our auditions on June 10th, however all applicants will be kept up to date when/if the audition and application procedure needs to change.
